An Evening of Operatic Splendor
The San Miguel de Allende Arts Festival (FASMA) 2026 proudly presents an extraordinary evening dedicated to the art of the human voice, bringing together three internationally acclaimed artists whose careers have graced some of the world's most prestigious opera houses and concert stages.
Celebrated sopranos María Katzarava and Lluvia Ruelas, joined by renowned pianist Jozef Olechowski, will present a concert that showcases the beauty, emotion, and expressive power of vocal music in an unforgettable artistic experience.
Within the magnificent setting of the Angela Peralta Theater, audiences will be taken on a musical journey through opera, French art song, and Spanish zarzuela, interpreted by artists whose excellence has earned international recognition.

A Program of Passion and Beauty
The first half of the concert is devoted to some of the most beloved pages of the operatic repertoire, featuring works by Giacomo Puccini, including selections from Madama Butterfly, Tosca, and Turandot, alongside celebrated works by Georges Bizet, Charles Gounod, and Jacques Offenbach's enchanting Barcarolle.
Following intermission, the atmosphere shifts toward the elegance of French vocal music with works by Reynaldo Hahn, Francis Poulenc, and Kurt Weill, before culminating in a vibrant celebration of Spanish zarzuela and its rich lyrical tradition.

María Katzarava — Dramatic Soprano
Recognized as one of the leading Verdi sopranos of her generation, María Katzarava is the only Mexican soprano to have built a professional career across all five continents. Winner of both the Opera and Zarzuela divisions of Operalia 2008, she has appeared on legendary stages including La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro Real Madrid, the Arena di Verona, and Barcelona's Gran Teatre del Liceu.
Her distinguished career includes collaborations with internationally renowned artists such as Plácido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, and Juan Diego Flórez, establishing her as one of Mexico's most celebrated operatic performers.
Lluvia Ruelas — Soprano
Born in Mazatlán, Mexico, Lluvia Ruelas has developed an impressive artistic career in both Mexico and Europe. She has performed in opera productions and concerts throughout Austria, Germany, and Italy, appearing in prestigious venues and collaborating with important orchestras and musical institutions.
Her voice is admired for its beauty, sensitivity, and expressive depth, and has been praised by María Katzarava as one of the most compelling voices of her generation.
Jozef Olechowski — Piano
Polish-born pianist Jozef Olechowski is internationally recognized for his outstanding work as a concert artist, chamber musician, educator, and cultural ambassador. His performances have taken him throughout Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas, including appearances at London's prestigious Wigmore Hall.
In addition to his performing career, he has made significant contributions to the promotion of Mexican music through numerous recordings and artistic initiatives that have strengthened cultural ties between Mexico and Poland.
