FASMA Youth Workshop: Your Story in a Painting

Every person carries a story shaped by memories, emotions, challenges, dreams, and encounters that leave a lasting mark. In this workshop, FASMA Youth invites participants to discover that these personal experiences can be transformed into a work of art, turning memory, emotion, and imagination into a painting capable of expressing the deepest parts of their inner world.

Guided by artists and facilitators, participants will begin with a reflection exercise designed to help them identify a meaningful personal experience: a moment of joy, a loss, a friendship, a challenge overcome, or a dream that inspires them. From that story, they will explore how to translate feelings, memories, and messages into colors, shapes, textures, and symbols, creating a painting that reflects their personal perspective and unique way of seeing the world.

About the Workshop

More than a technical painting class, this workshop approaches art as a language of expression and self-discovery. Its purpose is not to teach participants how to paint “correctly,” but to help them understand that artistic creation can become a powerful way to express what words sometimes cannot. With the guidance of artists and facilitators, each participant will be encouraged to explore their creativity with freedom, confidence, and authenticity.

The creative process becomes a space for reflection, self-awareness, and recognition of the value of one’s own story. Each painting will emerge from an intimate experience transformed into image: a composition that not only reflects a personal memory, but also reveals art’s ability to shape memory, give new meaning to emotion, and share with others a part of who we are.

FASMA Youth Collective Exhibition

As the closing of the workshop, the works created by participants will be presented in a FASMA Youth Collective Exhibition, open to the public. Family members, friends, and visitors will be invited to discover the stories each young participant chose to tell through art, recognizing in every piece a unique voice, a transformed emotion, and a singular perspective.

This exhibition seeks to give visibility to the talent of its participants, celebrate their creative capacity, and demonstrate how art can transform personal experiences into inspiration for the wider community. More than a display of paintings, it will be a shared space where the sensitivity, memory, and imagination of new generations take center stage.
