Theatre Writing Workshop

As part of the FASMA 2026 program, the Theatre Writing Workshop invites participants to discover the creative process behind writing for the stage. Designed as a safe and inspiring environment for exploration and experimentation, this workshop offers aspiring playwrights and creative writers the opportunity to develop their dramatic voice while learning the essential techniques that transform ideas into compelling theatrical works.

Through practical exercises and creative exploration, participants will learn how to shape emotions, experiences, and imagination into scenes that come alive through performance. Writing becomes an interactive process where language, movement, space, and dramatic action work together to create meaningful theatrical experiences.

About the Workshop

Throughout the workshop, participants will explore the key differences between narrative writing and dramatic writing, learning how conflict, dialogue, and action shape theatrical storytelling. The course introduces fundamental concepts including character development, dramatic structure, pacing, and the creation of tension that gives life and emotional depth to a stage production.

Participants will experiment with a variety of dramatic forms, including monologues, dialogues, and three-character scenes, while developing practical tools for creating authentic characters and engaging theatrical situations. Each exercise encourages creativity, observation, and the ability to think dramatically through both language and performance.

Open to both beginners and experienced writers, the workshop provides a collaborative environment where imagination, artistic expression, and creative freedom are encouraged, allowing every participant to develop a unique voice as a playwright.
